This is me, literally in ruins, near the edge, and happy at Helfštýn in the Czech Republic in February.
Now I am back home in South Carolina, starting this blog for the benefit of my Czech friends. I am hoping to save time and to be more democratic in my sharing of photos and news by posting much of it here. I really hope that I don't bore you all to tears.

Yes, tis I! Have now read all of your posts. Started out doing so because I didn't want to appear ignorant by asking you a question that had already been answered. The question I wanted to ask (& was NOT answered in one of your posts, or maybe I just missed something significant?) was, "WHAT story deadline in two weeks?" Are you writing a book? Short story? Feature for a magazine/newspaper/what?? I noted, with extreme interest, your having won 2nd place in some sort of writing competition (enuf $$, evidently, to finance a trip to Europe) ... congratulations, albeit long after the fact!
Sorry to hear about your back problems. NOT good! What a freak occurrence. I'll be doing a post on tornadoes down the road, and will be referencing another weird happening during one that I had lived through back in Indiana.
I hope you're feeling better very soon.
